Gary Phillips, APRA Chairman
Keynote
Address: "Pocketbook Issues That Drive Your Bottom Line"
Captain Reman (aka Noah Rickun)
Rickun claims that, “It’s not the economy, it’s not the gas prices, it’s not
the competition…it’s YOU! Why you must take control of your business now or
lose forever.” In his experiences with ETE Reman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin he
has learned a great deal about the remanufacturing industry and how to drop
more dollars to your bottom line regardless of the product line you
remanufacture and the size of your business.
Rickun will cover:
- Specific tools to overcoming the biggest barriers
to making sales
- A complete, step-by-step, fully integrated game
plan for understanding and mastering sales attitude
- Clear methods to maintain intensity, drive and
commitment
- The secret to delivering extraordinary service
that will keep your customers coming back and telling everyone they know
- Differentiating yourself from the competition
- Overcoming the price objection
- Understanding the difference between THE economy
and THEIR economy
Rickun has delivered more than 75 presentations in
the past year to corporations, associations and business owners with
audiences ranging from 25 to 2,000. “Praise from his audience is
collectively expressed as being innovative and positive with a tremendous
understanding of basic business principles. He also understands
remanufacturing and the challenges and opportunities we all face,” stated
Bill Gager, APRA President.
Rickun’s favorite quote is “Never forget a customer; never let a customer
forget you.” So please join us for the Opening Session during the BIG R Show
this year to learn how to be unforgettable!

Put Your Green
Foot Forward: Building Blocks That Will Promote Your Green Message
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm / FREE
“Going green” has become quite the catch phrase
over recent years. With so many green products and eco-friendly promises
circulating, it is important to review your company’s marketing and business
practices to make sure you are taking full advantage of all your green
marketing opportunities. Remanufacturing is a green angle that can offer a
huge selling point when telling your story to consumers and communicating
with the public. A look at all your business practices may uncover other
environmental strengths such as the use of recycled parts or renewable
resources. In this seminar, Tom Marx and Gary McCoy with The Marx Group will help you realistically examine
your company’s green marketing and business activities and provide you with
the green building blocks to support your marketing efforts.

identified, how does a company determine which options are most cost
effective for their operation? This presentation will discuss the costs
associated with cleaning and the methods used to calculate the true benefits
to the organization. Presented by Bob German, Senior Staff Engineer,
National Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery, Rochester

bird; $60 after 10/15/10
The objective of this year’s air conditioning
clinic will be to fuel the compressor remanufacturing industry through the
21st Century. The focus will be tois to have an international exchange of
compressor remanufacturing information by providing a forum for any and all
AC questions and ideas among AC professionals. Questions may be submitted to

Klaus.Zenk@Santech.com.
Two leading industry AC instructors will speak on the new causes of
compressor pattern failures. This will include late models more sensitive
compressor designs; flooded evaporator systems vs. non-flooded systems; and,
defective aftermarket parts, dryers, accumulators, condensers and
compressors.
The panel of instructors will also address compressor AC fuse failure, check
engine code set, and aftermarket coil missing diode. Also, they will cover
clutch failures higher in salt air with single wire coils and compressor
failure when the system has a full charge of oil.
Product displays and demonstrations will also be featured at the clinic.

Programming Electronic Control Units Using a J2534 Device
Speaker: Daniel Marus
Daniel
J. Marus is President and Founder of Auto Computer Pro and Controller
Technologies Corp. (www.networkvehicle.com ) and has been a software
engineer involved in the design and implementation of software and hardware
systems for the programming of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) since the
early 1980‘s. He is a member or the SAE Committee on the Recommended
Practice on Pass-Through Vehicle Programming.
Increasingly today, many vehicle systems are being managed by a separate
computer or control unit cooperating on one or more networks in the vehicle,
from Engine Control Units to Anti-lock brakes to Passive Entry Modules, and
the list continues to grow. If you remanufacture any of the automotive
electronic control units that are at the core of nearly all systems in the
auto of today, then you do not want to miss this presentation. The
presentation will focus on the current state of updating ECUs with the
latest OEM software and will include a live practical demonstration of
programming a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using a J2534 device and an
OEM website for distribution of ECU software.
Session time: 70 minutes
You will learn:
- The role of the SAE J2534 Standard for Pass-Thru vehicle programming
- Basic hardware for programming ECUs
- Software systems for programming ECUs
- The OEM role and support for updating ECUs
- Ancillary ECU maintenance functions
Bring all of your questions on this vital topic. If you currently have a
system in place for programming ECUs, please come and share your successes
and lessons learned. Let’s have a round table discussion which helps us all
become better and more profitable at what we do best! Remanufacture
Automotive Components!
